The top 3 finishers from this years CPY (from left): Wyatt Hendrix(1st), William Ravn(3rd), and NM Matthew Fishbein(2nd)
The annual Maine Chess Player of the Year competition made a triumphant return in 2024 after a 5 year hiatus. The competition was based on a player's top 5 best performances in qualifying tournaments over the course of the year. For a tournament to qualify, it had to be at least 3 rounds, be open to the public, and be a swiss or similar format.
